Day Shift were formed in August/September 2004.

In August 2004, Bob, Nick & Jason were all performing together but Bob decided to quit that band in order to work on new material.

After many phone calls and much discussion between the three of them, they decided to form a new band featuring Nick on guitar, Jason on bass and Bob on vocals.

They also agreed that the new band should be comprised of only four gigging members after having been in bands with larger numbers and having experienced the organisational difficulties that that could sometimes cause.

They decided to ask Archie from 'The Morrigan' and 'Blue Drift' to join as drummer as they'd all enjoyed working together in the past both gigging and improvising. After listening to a rough demo of some of Bob's new songs, Archie agreed to join the band, and the first rehearsal soon followed in late September 2004.
